Call for board member volunteers

UROC is a not-for-profit society governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of 9 Board members elected for a 2-year term. Each year elections are held at the AGM, where every eligible member can vote for the Board of Directors. For the 2024 AGM we are looking to fill 2 Board of Director vacancies. Both of the vacancies are for a 2-year term.

About the role of the Board: UROC Board members assume the dual role of governing the organization and taking on working roles to help facilitate the operations of the association. The Board of Directors of UROC can be expected to commit on average 10 hours per month. Board members attend monthly meetings and help with events and other committees as required. To be eligible for the Board, you must hold a 2024 adult UROC membership. The following skill sets would be beneficial to the Board:

  • This year an emphasis will be placed on finding a strong candidate with experience in Finance/Accounting/Bookkeeping as we are reviewing succession plans for the Treasurer Role on the Board of Directors
  • Marketing/Communications
  • Event management
  • Land Management/Forestry
  • Policy development
  • Public Administration/Legal
  • Trail Building/Parks and Recreation Management

Interested and eligible 2024 UROC members need to submit a written application that answers the following questions. Please write the answers in an email or attach a WORD document with the answers.

  1. Describe your motivation for wanting to join the Board or continue working for the board.
  2. Describe your skills and experience that you believe would benefit the Board and association.
  3. Describe your capacity to commit to the volunteer requirements of being on the Board. The board typically commits a minimum of 10 hours a month between board meetings, committee meetings, events and other duties as required.

The Nominating committee shall identify recommended candidates to the full Board for consideration and election by members at the AGM. Answers to the written application will be provided ahead of the AGM as part of the AGM package and posted on the website. Should you have questions about the role of the Board, please send them to the attention of Jesse Bone Chair of the UROC Nomination committee at [email protected].

Written applications must be received by March 10th and emailed to the attention of Jesse Bone , Chair of the UROC Nomination committee at [email protected]
