Annual General Meeting

The United Riders of Cumberland (UROC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2022 is coming up on Wednesday April 6th. In order to attend the AGM, vote or run for election you must be a renewed UROC member and be so two weeks prior to the AGM meeting.

Each year elections are held at the AGM, where every eligible member can vote for the Board of Directors. The UROC Board of Directors consists of 9 volunteer board members elected for a 2-year term. At the 2022 AGM, there will be 5 Director positions up for election. All 5 of the Directors up for election have stated their intention to run again for another 2-year term.

About the role of the Board:

The Board of Directors of UROC can be expected to commit on average 10 hours per month. Board members attend monthly meetings and help with events and other committees as required. Skillsets of interested applicants that would be beneficial to the governance of the association include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Marketing/Communications
  • Event management
  • Land Management/Forestry
  • Policy development
  • Public Administration/Legal
  • Trail Building/Parks and Recreation Management
  • Fundraising/Finance/Accounting 

If you would like to apply to join the Board please submit a written application that answers the following questions. Please write the answers in an email or attach a WORD document with the answers. Email your application to the attention of Adam Speigel,  [email protected] by Wednesday March 9th 11:59pm.

  1. Describe your skills and experience that you believe would benefit the Board and association
  2. Describe your capacity to commit to the volunteer requirements of being on the Board. The board typically commits a minimum of 10 hours a month between board meetings, committee meetings, events and other duties as required.
  3. Describe your motivation for wanting to join the Board or continue working on the board(incumbents)?

UROC Events 2022

UROC has a great events calendar lined up for 2022. Save the date and stay tuned for more information about the following in-person events. 

Sunday, May 15th Island Cup XC – The Island Cup series is back and Cumberland is hosting an XC race for all those that like to go fast up and down. 

Saturday, June 4th – The Coaltown Throwdown women’s enduro presented by Shimano and the VI Brewing after-party. This inaugural event celebrates women riders with a fun day on the bike and a catered after-party that promises to be a memorable experience. Registration is set to open in late March / early April, so don’t miss event. 

Saturday, June 25th – Twelve Hours of Cumberland returns. This classic race celebrating community, riding, and just all-around good times on your bike for 12 hours is back. 

Sunday, September 4th – Dodge City Enduro – part of the Island Cup series. Known as Dodgezilla, this massively fun day out on a bike with your friends is an event that needs to be in your calendar. Stay tuned for registration as it will sell out very quickly.  

In addition to these live events UROC will also once again be hosting Fiver Live, Virtual Fivers, and the Gravity Nines.
