The United Riders of Cumberland (UROC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dougal Browne as the non-profit’s Executive Director.
Dougal joins the team with an outdoor sport and recreation background including business development, print and electronic media, and sales and marketing for industry, as well as non-profit voluntary work and extensive trail building experience. He has developed multi-platform campaigns and activations for corporate blue chip and sports industry endemic brands. He has volunteered in non-profit community management and chaired multi-discipline boards of directors. He founded and developed an entire mountain bike trail system on the East coast of Vancouver Island. Dougal is married to Cath and has two young boys (3.5 and 2 years old).
The United Riders of Cumberland is a registered non-profit society that advocates for mountain biking through: fostering positive working relationships with landowners; building and maintaining mountain bike trails; hosting mountain bike events; encouraging mountain biking in youth and group rides; encouraging the positive spirit of mountain biking in the community; and, working with other community groups, agencies, societies and organizations sharing similar purposes.
UROC has a unique Land Access (License) Agreement with the three land owners adjacent to the Village of Cumberland (Village of Cumberland, Mosaic/Timberwest and Hancock/Comox Timber Ltd), which facilitates access to Cumberland’s world-class trail network and allows the ongoing management of these non-motorized trails.
As Executive Director, Dougal will be responsible for further developing and implementing the UROC trail management and maintenance program while liaising with multiple land management parties and overseeing the Land Access Agreement. He will continue to develop community activations, community engagement and support communications and media platforms. He will also be responsible for the organization’s sponsorship, funding and public relations programs, and other non-profit management duties with the support of the UROC Board of Directors.
We look forwards to working with Dougal to implement our mandate, goals and objectives.
